I finally looked up the details of the DC smoking ban, and can tell you that it's now in effect for seating areas of restaurants, and will expand to include clubs, bars, and taverns next January.

Which is all very well, but does not allow me to go to Goth Prom at Alchemy/Nations tonight, and see Voltaire (who I've actually heard of! and like!) and hang out with fun people-- or I could go, and probably spend the evening sitting in a corner somewhere trying not to faint, and tomorrow afternoon I would be curled up alternately clutching my stomach and writhing in pain while saying things about how all smokers ought to have been beheaded at birth (yeah, including my grandfather, so I wouldn't be here either). So, next year. Except that by next year, there will be no Nations (and I think no Alchemy either) and so I still won't be able to go.

And I want to dress up in exciting things and wear interesting colors of lipstick and all my puzzle rings and stuff. And there's totally not going to be enough for four of us to do in the field tomorrow, so I could easily have stayed out late and then gone into the lab instead. Waah, waah, waah.

Ok, I'm done now. (...and I did go to fencing, and tired myself out in 20 minutes, and rescued my pretty sword from Seamus, who wants to steal it, and went home to assist my parents-- who are going to be out of town for almost a week and a half starting tomorrow-- in tackling the vast amoeba of papers that's taking over the kitchen table. And I do really need more sleep...)

mmm... smoking ban. we've had one in Cols for like 2 years now, and I LOVE IT. finally I can breathe freely while destroying my liver at the bar!
