and then I trust I will be done, at least for a while, and you can go back to ignoring the other sorts of things I post instead of this drivel. :)

So, this all started with there being a sale for half-price doll bodies at domuya which is one of the manufacturers. And they're a new super-flexible sort of body, that's supposed to be excessively more poseable than all the others, and, well, when it's a choice between $200 and $400 for a body... this would not be a bad time to buy in, if I really was sure I wanted to. (And of course once these go back up, the resale value is likely to be about full price, if I changed my mind. My ex-vendor friend Claire would get all excited about that bit...)

Of course, the Kanoa only comes with a body of his own. It would look more like this instead, which is perhaps more aesthetically pleasing, not having the articulations so visible, but could not bow as elegantly... I don't know if either of these things is important to me or not.

Other dolls I have been contemplating with vague covetousness: (for contrast, mostly; the liklihood of my ending up with any of these is rather small...)
**Doll In Mind: Rain or Persia, I'm not sure which yet. Of course, I could get a Rain head from the manufacturer, whereas all versions of Persia seem to be sold out, so I'd have to track her down elsewhere...
**Souldoll: Marvin... who, also, they appear to belive is male. I'm even less convinced by him than my Kanoa. But he's available as a separate head, so I could totally get that and a girl body. Although I would also need to get eyes and pick hair separately... and I kind of like the idea of a doll that comes with at least some sort of wig, because the idea of having them sit around bald as I decide what shapes and colors go best, and then order stuff, seems horrible and sort of rude. Although that's probably just my hair fixation talking... But. without the rather odd make-up, this is very close to what I picture Janet looking like, which means I'd just be looking for a Thomas and maybe a ragamuffin.

Some pretty links for [livejournal.com profile] fishy1: Alice, or Alice, size small who actually looks much more alice-like, and wouldn't fit too badly with being smaller than the other two, the Hatter, and Kanoa, again as the white rabbit... he is still pretty here (and slightly more masculine in this coat, but I like the gray eyes much better than the blue)... oh, and [livejournal.com profile] kittymaru did you notice that soom has pocket watches? they seem to be sold out of the good ones, but there were at one time several.

Oh, and there's someone on the Den of Angels doll forum who's got someone done up like Sephiroth from FFVII. v impressive. Although I'm not quite sure I could do an anime doll... I think mine would have to be old world. sigh. (I keep saying that...)

Although it was kind of funny, since [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf was telling me something about the dynamics of buying a new motorcycle. And it's so similar... All the people who already have one think of course you should buy/upgrade/take advantage of this great deal, etc. And the rest of the world kind of looks at you funny. And it's effectively an expensive luxury item that one doesn't really *need* or anything. Even if it's way cool and stuff.

I was supposed to be fixing the zipper on my fencing bag. Oops.

I'm seriously bad at looking at/for doll stuff online because of heinously irritatingly bad and awful internyet.

I'm thinking though, that I should make Alyce a traditional blue alice dress. On the other hand, my favorite twosome was beardless-Jack as the Hatter and Maya as Alice in the horrid green with the garden around the neckline. I had serious thoughts about making Damien a Jabberwocky outfit just becuase Wonderland is well, it's Wonderland.

I think the biddest plus is changeable hair and eyes for endless combos. Although I just don't do that. Mine are who they are which may be a waste, but that's the way I am. They do have outfits for dress-up though. Like, uhm, Damien's Lolita dress. Make me post it if you haven't seen it.

Oh yeah, and since mine are Cerberus Project (and NOBODY pronounces it right "KERBEROS" *sigh*) I should at least puch them a little. I'm addicted to the bodies becuase I'm addicted to the aesthetic. I just think they're the prettiest damned doll bodies ever. And Aacheron is VERY poseable. A lot of it is in how the body is strung, if the joints are sueded or wired, or whatnot. Aacheron can do a shooting hoops pose, stand on one foot, and stand on his head. I'm gonna try to get him to hold another doll at some point becuase I think he probably can.

Ok - time for me to shut up. :)

I'm all about changeable hair, and maybe eyes. I just have this faint horror of having a doll show up without any hair or eyes at all and have to wait that way for some long period of time during which I pester you to try a variety of wigs before deciding what style/color I want to start off with, pour over various retaliers, and eventually order things and have to wait for them. Although it seems easier to pick eyes in the abstract than hair. And it's not as if I couldn't just pick something long and blonde and start off by getting that.

I hope I'm not that picky yet. Or maybe I'm too picky... since even the CP joints still look sort of odd to me. (and I am also a heathen and use the latinate pronounciation unless it's spelled with the "k", although I do know that it was originally from greek-- but that was the name of my first car, too)

no, I don't believe I have seen Dami in his lolita dress. (and since I really don't have any particular desire for a Chiwoo, that should be safe to post :)

Mel says random people are texting him random "vroom vroom" sorts of things because there's a motorcycle they think he should get. This is much less disturbing. And further information is helpful, since I'm sure I'm missing stuff.

Okay. Then I'll dress Damii all girly for ya.

I don't really know why I picked a Chiwoo. Or why I have two. Like I have two Lishes. It's kind of weird, but they all look very different to me.

I also don't really like many other Chiwoos at all, which makes it even stranger why I chose that particular doll. Maybe 3? And all of them belonging to people on my f-list.

funny. Maybe there are lots of other ones out there you'd like if you actually met them. :)

For some reason, though, I'm finding myself looking pretty exclusively at the most realistic molds I can find. As in the ones that remind me of actual people I vaguely know, or have seen or something. Which is not to say that I don't think some of the pixieish ones are fabulous, and don't look with great admiration at some of the elegant anime-esque ones, but I'm not actually tempted to get any of those. It's sort of odd. Almost like missing the point of the medium, or something.

[livejournal.com profile] the_impassive has a bunch of realistic looking ones, if you want to look her up. She's also an author.

I tend to go for that halfway happy semi-anime look. Maya looks like she's wearing a mask, and I think while Aacheron's probably my most realistic-looking one, he's also painted up the most... colorful.

Some people do amazing things with the Dollshe boys, too.

Actually, I find on meeting a lot of other dolls, I don't like them as well as I thought I might. I'm not sure why this is. People are strange, though, and DOA is crazy. Read the jealousy thread sometime. I almost posted there that, "I think my dolls are perfect. Of course with perfect dolls, I'm not going to be jealous of anyone elses. I also think that everyone should feel this way about their own dolls, as collectibles, or artistic mediums, muses, or extensions of themselves or characters they've created. As a means of expression, your dolls should be perfect for you."

If you do decide to grab one of those bodies, I'm considering one too, and we could go in together and maybe save on shipping. Shipping = always yuky.

I still like your pics of Ava from before he was painted, too. But yeah, most of your crew is a little less realistic that I'd think about getting myself. Not that I don't like them. But I couldn't want to steal someone else's doll, now could I?

And... I'm still thinking about it, on the bodies. I will probably be still thinking about it tonight and deciding by default when it turns up not march anymore... um, what time zone is this sale in, anyway? Hm...

but my thoughts go thus: I really like that souldoll head. I really like the soom head, but don't much care for the soom body, which I'd have to get with it. I sort of think one doll would be a good place to start. And my favorite "one" would be the soom one... however, if I seriously want to do these things, it would make more sense to get a boy & a girl body now, even if I only have one head picked out. And I could re-sell someone I never end up using. All this is far too complicated, and would take all week to think through, by which time the conditions will have changed again, anyway. waah, waah, waah.

this is not a helpful thought process. :) Clearly I am not good at making decisions. Conversely, if you decide that you want to get one of the half of bodies, do let me know.

half off, not half of. that would be odd, if they were only selling half bodies... yeah, ok, never mind...

except of course I just read their fine print about while this is technically a march sale, it goes until april 30/everything is sold out. sigh. Ok, forget what I said about decision making earlier. I shall have to come up with some other thought process to dither about instead.
