So I was scrubbing the back porch (see prev, though it was friends locked, hm...), and remembering suddenly that there was a time when I was a kid and decided to play Cinderella, and got out that very scrub brush, and a tacky kid-sized plastic bucket, and voluntarily scrubbed the laundry room floor. I'm pretty sure it only happened once...

And I was listening to "Cadillacs & Whiskey" the other day, and thinking that you know, if I had the kind of money other people buy cadillacs with, I would have gone to grad school already. In fact, ideally tuition costs should be about the same as I paid for my matrix.

For some reason these two anecdotes are related in my mind...

The part that always got me was the in-state out-of state difference which is usally about a 50-70% discount, many people move to their colleges state a year before, work a temp job, just to qualify for that discount. You may want to check out Library of Congress or Smithsonian, they probably have scholorship info or may do a work for us for X years and we will pay tuition, it's how I paid for school. Many companies do some version of that IF the degree is releavant to them. After 10 years of working with GMU students, you pick up some interesting tricks, which change every year.

PS Scrubbing a deck is still the cheapest rent around.

When I was little, my favorite toy was the toy sink my friend had, in which you got to wash plastic dishes. Funny that.
