Does anyone know where one might find highly posable 1/12 scale or smaller plastic dolls? I'm thinking something equivalent to an Obitsu, only half the size or smaller, male and female versions preferred. And the faceless customizable look is far superior to the hideous GI Joe style.

(we're *cough* looking for cake toppers that we can pose ourselves, and possibly dress to look like us...)

Oh geeze.... The only thing that did come to mind was G.I. Joe. There's Dawn, but they're limited in posability. Takara made tiny little Jenny dolls for a while with the same body type as the PG Jenny (soft, flesh-like silicon on a wire frame), but good luck finding one and I don't know if they even made males. You could always bind one's sqooshy little chest, I guess. If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know.

1/12 is pretty small. That's doll house size, right? Barbie is 1/5th. How much money do you want to spend? A lot of doll house stores have those family and dolls for them, and some of those dolls are ok for them.

But I would go with action figures myself. You could customize action figures into whatever you like, repaint them, and then, use them as the toppers. It's cheaper and they are more poseable. They re-released some of the mego-like dolls like the Brady Bunch (those are slightly bigger than a normal action figure at like 7" tall). But that's my suggestion for you.

Yeah, I'm kind of thinking 4-6 inches, and I'm not finding lot out there in that size with knee and elbow joints. Where would you recommend looking for action figures? I've done some searching, but I suspect I don't know the proper terminology to find what I'm looking for.

Ebay is the best place. You should be able to get tons of them without packaging is the cheapest. There are quite a number of them with joints, you just have to look at them. Fully articulated/posable.

I found some 21cm boy and girl Obitsu, both available in fleshtone for $23 each.

That's my back-up plan (they also have them at Junky Spot, which has a couple other things I want to get at some point) but at around 9" high, they're kind of larger than the cakes we were looking at. (also, that's the price w/o head, if you read the fine print.)

Alternately, we can pick our favorite fantasy creatures from the craft store selection. ;) I figure there can be discussion later on.
