"What I wist. Wist, from wistful. I think I like the verb form better." --mainly for artistic tastes; please note "want" and "own" tags... And
grauwulf if you start getting things for me off this, I might have to hit you. :P
Dear Craftster swap partner (or whoever else might wish to know this...),
Here is my ongoing list of *things* that I like and dislike in art, objects, and/or life. Subject to change, in no particular order, and all that.
Likes:
motifs/things: wings, birds in flight, labyrinths, ruined cities, bones of dead creatures (ancient to modern), fossils, tree of life, sealife (so long as I don't have to eat it!), books! (to read, or to write/draw in), those artsy model jewelry holder hands, cheetahs, salamanders, ball joint resin dolls, sea turtles, owls, ravens, broken ceramics and other archaeological artifacts, messenger bags, steamer trunks, wood/bamboo DPNs (I have sizes 8 & 0), hedge mazes, herb gardens, little metal/clay llama fetishes, colored glass bottles, tea, sleep, buttons, candles/fire, Deborah Butterfield horses, long swirly skirts, fireflies, patchwork, owls, mythology/folklore, apples, language and etymologies, roses, dandelion puffs, poison hemlock, cypresses, violets, RMS Queen Mary, Cerberus, dragons, hydras, harpies, violins, lutes/old guitars, non-electric stringed instruments in general, masks, rain & thunderstorms, snow, rocks and water, columns, the Hitchhiker's Guide Radio Plays, knucklebones, cards (particularly antique decks & pretty tarot cards), old maps, travel, sailing ships, ghost ships, thyme, glass-headed pins, the curve of the spinal column, sea turtles, long hair, sparkly crystal hair things, dice (particularly old/bone/carved or inlaid), Tiffany stained glass, calligraphy (particularly the swirly 18th c kind), stripey socks, the strange and the interesting, swords (think rapier, not broadsword), pockets, buttons, little houses on chicken legs,
themes: art nouveau, ancient celtic (knotwork, stonework, book of kells), dolls/miniatures, forest (NE USA/zone 6 deciduous forest, cypresses, or redwoods...), steampunk (brass & wood & clockwork & pseudo-Victorian coats/vests with lots of pockets),
colorsets: green/earth tones/gold or copper
cobalt blue/silver/black
blue/gray
red/maroon/black or off-white
materials: velvet, most quilter's cotton prints (not branded cartoons), small glass beads, opal/mother of pearl, chambray, linen, wool that feels nice, MACHINE WASH FABRICS (for clothing), copper, malachite, resin, light weight floaty silk, fabrics with good drape, wood grain, amber, patchwork,
Dislikes: (yes, this list may be less than helpful...)
motifs/things: cartoon/TV related, politics, most pets (ie yes, I like cats, but not persian kitten pictures), overuse of the great battle between good and evil in fantasy novels, 4- or 8- fold symmetry snowflakes, most "pop culture" in general, overuse of vinyl, more than 3" heels, too much sunlight, too many people, TOBACCO SMOKE, most kinds of alcohol, "live-action idiots" (ie, dealing with idiots in person), earrings, too much cutsey, too much mid-20th century retro,
flavors/scents: most fruit, coffee, onions, green tea (it tastes like brewed grass clippings! however, a good jasmine green tea is excellent), strong scents in general,
-----
And the dolls like things too:
Waif likes old-fashioned toys.
Lady likes souls and glamourous things.
...and
psycho_k_barbie would be delighted by any small plastic weapons you might have lying around that you're not using anymore. Or a Jeep. She'd love a good battle command vehicle...

Date: 2008-03-17 11:18 pm (UTC)The point is, it's a list of things I like, not necessarily of things I want to give house-room too. I mean, I added the Longship Company's new ship, 'cause it was pretty.
