thanateThis week's theme seems to be the world reminding me that I really should have done all that stuff I knew I should have done ages ago. In particular, I spent a couple hours yesterday putting the spare tire on my car (right at the moment half the street decided to drive by on the way home from work) and taking the old one in to get fixed, only to discover that the problem was that the valve stem had gotten knocked loose, something I strongly suspect occurred due to my scraping the wheel up against the curb, since I haven't replaced the two wheel covers that went missing last year. Today, I just paid $50-some to learn that (aside from my alignment getting off in the last 4 months, probably due to the stupid road construction, and needing the front brake pads replaced) the state of MD requires that I fix my front bumper after the little problem with skidding into the mountain-not-the-river nearly five years ago and drill actual holes to attach the front license plate before I can register my car in their officious bureaucratic state. The sad thing is that, while I know you're always supposed to get a second quote and all that, I kind of regret not just letting the guy who did the inspection replace everything and get it done with. Possibly that's the headache speaking....
And so of course there's that other thing, that I've been on and off headachy since coming back from Maine, and I don't know if it's some allergy to the house or the yard here, (or the street construction?) or that my eyes are finally deciding I need some kind of vision correction and they're going to make me do it. Because half the time I think I've got sinus issues, and then the other half my head starts hurting when I try to read things. Ugh. I passed the vision test for my driver's license with no problem (and actually have a vaguely decent picture, for once) but the rest of the nonsense is still to deal with.
Now to decide whether the next step is to take a nap, research car fixing places online, or seal the leaky bit of the basement...
