It is raining again, which makes the plants happy; it's starting to look as if all the new sun-loving things are going to make it after all. I haven't been down to see if the basement has started leaking again yet (no, no it still hasn't been patched...) and theoretically tomorrow we will have new windows. I have yet to hear whether they're actually going to install them if it's raining again, though; we shall see. Meanwhile, I may at least take the curtains down anyway, if not start moving furniture about. We shall see.
I'm also half-way through sorting my mad amounts of clothing and filling up bags of it to release back into the thrift store life-cycle. Most of it came from there, anyway, and perhaps there will be other people who think the things I'm not entirely satisfied with are sufficiently fantastic to love. I find that aside from the things that no longer fit, I'm also tossing things with sufficiently unnatural fiber content to be uncomfortable to wear, and the ones that were interesting but never actually looked that good *on*. It's kind of sad, actually. (there are also a handful of things I love to much to toss to the winds, but am definitely not going to be able to wear again, that I'm contemplating packing up and shipping to
skittblink to see if she can make use of them. Definitely the green velvet pants, anyway...)
I blame archaeology for giving me actual stomach muscles that stick out and take up space; if it were just the extra inch or two of padding around the back of my ribs I might harbor delusions of getting my torso back into the size it was a decade ago when I could wear size 4 or 6 things so long as they stopped being fitted before my hips kicked in. Of course, I also don't really care enough to do this, but after going to the park on Sunday where we had a lovely time wandering around down by the river and then climbing up the steep hill back to the car made me nearly heat-sick for the next hour or two, I am reminded that a bit more exercise would be nice.
grauwulf commented on how cheerful I was on Monday morning, and I was reminded of Steve talking about how he always felt better after a day of field work, or in which he did some kind of exercise.
In other news, quite to my surprise, I just sold the little packet of vintage cloth buttons I stuck in the yard-sale section of my Etsy; it's a bit sad that none of the things I've actually *made* has sold, but given the amount of effort I've been putting into it recently, I'm kind of impressed that anyone found something I posted a month and a half ago in the first place. Once I finish the clothing revolution, and pack up the things-that-go-away-in-boxes, and clean up from the window replacement havoc, it'll be time to sort out the craft room to make things again. Admittedly, I dragged some yarn ends downstairs (and unpacked the cool box of bits
astormorray gave us as first-installment wedding present, and discovered a pair of fantastic us-colored skeins that I now have to come up with something to make out of...) and made a thing, using a technique that's been on the "I should get around to this someday" list since the summer of '99, but that's for another post. And there are curtains upstairs that need hemming. (Ok, never mind why that's related...)
Also for today, since it's gone all wet and cold out, I think it's time to get around to baking that lemon bread, which also includes a trip to the grocery store, since we've run out of milk.
