fun sized pillows!
Oct. 12th, 2009 10:40 amWeekend was very long, and involved far too much driving late at night. Also, I now need someone to amputate
leimon_malakoi's left arm at about the elbow so I can move on to other knitting projects. Despite all kinds of chaos, and all the dire predictions we could think of, the wedding went off more or less fine, although it did make us start to feel like excellent planners by comparison.
Meanwhile, we did get to spend friday and some of saturday wandering around Wilmington (not the one in DE) and there was beach and random shopping (at which we bought a pair of army engineer's bags, which are awesome) and one third of the NC aquarium. Which is to say that there appear to be three of them, not that we missed lots of it. Highlights include getting to meet a year-old sea turtle, watching fish feeding and a rather odd dive presentation during which we were told that 4th graders are a species, some excellent hanging fish decor & lovely exhibit design, and an amorous box turtle:

"Come out! I love you!"
The lady did not appear particularly impressed. We were not particularly impressed with the acoustic quality of the PA system, which was just barely intelligible from the outside areas of the buildings, leading us to attend their last video presentation of the day with the understanding that to the best of our knowledge it was going to be about gum buckles. (This turned out to be "Unloveables," and a rather tacky program telling us why various invertebrates and marine creatures were supposed to repel us, or perhaps not.)
At any rate, I conclude that Wilmington is lovely, and I have no interest whatsoever in moving farther south. And now, I need to go buy a microwave.
