Six months ago today...

grauwulf and I somehow managed to pull together something like a wedding. Those who attended even seemed to think it went off reasonably well, despite some oddities. ("Thank you for attending our wedding rehearsal. We'll have the real thing up for you in about fifteen minutes, as soon as we've had a chance to change...") And despite having spent vast amounts of the last six months in each other's company, we've also managed to still like each other. Some days it even looks like we're sorting out the kinks of tossing two stubborn adults into the same house and expecting them to mesh systems. Yay for us!

Meanwhile, I have begun volunteering at the aquarium on Wednesday mornings (did I mention that?) which so far mostly involves hosing down the rocks and walkways in their northern Australian canyon to try to get the bird poop off before the exhibit opens, with an eye to not using so much water that the gift shop or the membership desk flood. Plus other rotating duties as assigned, and somehow managing not to get lost in the behind-the-scenes, which is actually quite interesting so far.

I also made it out to a NaNo kick off party this weekend, which makes the second nano-sponsored event I've ever actually attended. Maryland appears to be highly motivated and competitive as a group, too, which should make for an interesting change if I actually spend any time with them. So far I'm looking at at least two weekly write-ins that should work with my schedule, so there's that...

Of course, I still haven't decided which of the two things I'm contemplating doing is this year's project. I'm even vaguely tossing around the idea of trying to do both of them (as it's not as if I've got a job to take up my time instead, at present, so theoretically writing 4k a day all month should be easy, right?) but we'll see.
