I've had a couple of good reasons to sit in front of my computer recently, some of which have been complicated by the fact that I seem to have lost the ability to reply to e-mails. I'm not quite sure why this is, but it has been getting worse rather than better. Today, I did manage to send the e-mail I had meant to about plans for tomorrow by about when everyone else was getting off of work, which was a bit late considering I meant to send it yesterday... At any rate, every time I sat down at the computer because I had to write that e-mail, I got distracted by something else. Mostly recipes and craft things and fiction markets, but then there was this:
I am all about having a secure homeland. But this is not that. It does not make me feel secure to have any power at all in the hands of people who assault one for asking entirely reasonable questions. I think it may be time to look up who my congressional representatives are here.
I know I've said it before, but I still remember the guy who brought his grandson to faire the weekend after the beginning of all this nonsense, when they had the security guards start searching everyone's bags at the gate. And this guy turned to his grandson approvingly and said, "This is the way it should be everywhere!" I still think that was one of the scariest things I've ever seen.
