And speaking of scheduling...

I just went through and scribbled a bunch of things on the calendar, which I'm now liable to ignore most of, and in the process have rediscovered the fact that of all the exciting things out there to do, about a third of them appear to be happening memorial day weekend.
Locally, there's Balticon, which is just up the light rail, a large SF/F convention, and sounds greatly worth checking out at least once. Also, I probably know other people who would be going, which is a plus.
There's Sapphire Joust (at which, several years ago,
grauwulf and I first met... although I was running on three hours of sleep, one donut, and a handful of veggies at the time, so it was not perhaps the best of first impressions) in Richmond from the SCA contingent.
If we felt like going out to Ohio, that weekend is also my 10-year college reunion; I don't know how many people will be going out for that (and I'm thinking perhaps it's not a cluster reunion, so only my year graduates would be there? I'm not sure...) but there are a bunch of college friends I don't see very often, and I could torment
grauwulf with random campus touring and forgettable anecdotes.
And of course, before discovering it was the same weekend as everything else, there was talk of going out to visit
sylvie and going to Wiscon, as well, which is perhaps more likely to have panelists I have heard of than Balticon.
I think there were a couple of other things, too, but after that I stopped counting. Currently leaning towards Balticon (ooh, not traveling on the holiday weekend!) or Oberlin, depending on who's going out for the latter. But frustrated.
Also from this morning, a link which amused me in a sad sort of way: Theodora Goss on going to the Mall
