Earlier this evening, I was watching homemade music videos on [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's blog, and contemplating the oddness of the internet, youtube, and various related phenomena. Which is rather the inverse of some other things I've been thinking about recently, about the people you sort of knew once, liked, and thought might be nice to be friends with, except that somehow you never quite did enough about it and wandered off in different directions instead. Which, for reasons that may not make any sense to people outside my head, brings up the following question(s). I'm not entirely sure if I could answer it myself.

Who is your favorite person you don't know? (And how do you define "not knowing"? Someone you've never met in person? Someone famous you know all about, but who doesn't know you? Someone who doesn't actually exist?) Why?

I have several (mostly dead) writers who I feel like I know through their work. Neil Postman, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, William Shakespeare, Jared Diamond... though I doubt I could pick a favorite, Postman is probably in the lead, but mainly because I read him most recently. I tend to get swept up in whatever I'm currently into.
