little nothings

I have just made inadvertently volcanic hot chocolate. I suppose this is my cue to clean the microwave.
Meanwhile, it's been relatively quiet here; I finally dug my car out yesterday, days after the neighbor with whom we share the alleyway hired some kids to dig out a path to his car and
grauwulf did most of the job of clearing a spur for me, but I haven't actually been out since the last time I borrowed
grauwulf's behemoth, so I don't know how well I'll be able to see over the great snowy mountains all over. Speaking of which, we woke up on sunday morning to the sound of a front loader clearing most of the snow off our street and piling it up in a ten-foot mound all across out uphill neighbor's front yard. I find myself suddenly quite grateful for our silly little half-height chain link fence, as I suspect that without it the elm tree would not have fared well. How our basement will fare when all this starts melting in earnest remains to be seen.
The hinted-at but most likely forgotten by the rest of you reworking of the craft room is still ongoing, but I've unburied my sewing machine enough to use it. Now to attack the waist-high mending pile... Sadly, it contains both of my favorite pairs of pants, which have been cruelly slain by too much wear from my rock climbing harness. I've also just applied to cancel our climbing gym membership, as we're not making sufficient use of it. This is very sad, but the people we used to meet at climbing have mostly gone on to other things, I no longer drive past the Rockville gym on the way home from the lab, and
grauwulf has all kinds of crazy school & stuff going on. Of course, after all that snow shoveling, I want to go climbing and unkink my back...
In other news, the cat, in a surprising display of catliness, actually came and sat down on my lap for an hour or more yesterday. This is impressive in that it's only the second time he's voluntarily done such a thing; there may be hope for him yet.

Date: 2010-02-16 10:28 pm (UTC)Yes, we should go climbing tomorrow. And in the mean time, I should go find the rice heat pack and lie on the floor instead of trying to shovel snow off the steps below me or shake it off the bushes with the garden fork. Ow. :/
