Although really I have been doing post-worthy things; I'm just not talking about them at present. Go figure.
So, various people have started talking about going to Dolpa (silly elitist doll event in NYC, June 19) and as usual, I feel that:
+it could be great fun to go up for the weekend and hang out with the few doll people I know,
-but they're going to be running around with all the other doll people I don't know
+who I could meet, and they might turn out to be excellent people
-but I don't do that well in large groups of people, most of whom I don't know
+I'd probably meet a bunch of the people I keep seeing on friend-of-friends lists and contemplating adding to my lj list
-but there's a reason I haven't done so (mainly in the quest of not spending *all* my time on lj)
+adding people who post pretty doll photos could be a good thing
-but not looking at pretty doll photos is one of my major doll-acquisition-containment-measures...
...and so forth. Also, going to the event would involve begging a ticket from someone qualified to buy one, and going to NYC involves both, well, going to NYC, and spending money, and I am a bit wary of the whole spending money thing, as we're looking at things like building an addition on the house, which cost quite a bit of that. Of course, then we turn around and spend money on supplies for garden beds & screening in the porch, and I buy discount linen...
In other trivia, I was delighted to see Domuya get their website back up because while I am vastly impressed with the armor & barding, after seeing the actual horse doll of their Nightmare I find I have no need to own one. (But I will be pestering a certain person to let me play with hers when it arrives...) I find instead that I am far more tempted by the Luts bizarre winged boy (he's even called Thanatos...) although, a) I don't actually need another Puck, even one who's already got the wings I keep not getting around to making for him, and b) I'd be so much more tempted if they had a matched pair. Heck, if they'd done both styles for both wings, I'd be happy to get two sets, but having one wing cyber and one feathered is just odd.
I dreamed a while back that I'd ordered one and when it came it turned out to be the size of a realpuki and wearing the fluffiest white fur wig ever. In the dream I was quite distressed, because I'd been expecting an MSD sized doll, but actually I think I'd be delighted to have such a thing. I keep restraining myself from the puki-creatures, but that might not last. Particularly if the realpukis ever come in non-fullsets. (although I admit, the miniature violin is adorable.)

Date: 2010-03-24 04:26 am (UTC)and, uh... NIGHTMARE! I was thinking about that earlier because my Dika Doll jointed hands arrived, and I've been working on slimming them down and making them look less dough-like and heavy. They'd be great for on-horse poses though.

Date: 2010-03-24 09:35 pm (UTC)The boy hands are nice. I have one mostly *fixed* It didn't need much. However they will be going to the Saint and not Aston because they match his face and there's no way I can get them Aston-colored without an airbrush. Which is disappointing. I wanted them specifically for Aston. Girl hands are ugly. They need work too.
