A year ago....

...I was wrangling people to go pick up catering trays & cakes for my wedding. So far, the ongoing project seems to have worked out to our satisfaction.

(There was a discussion last night in which grauwulf gave us a solid B for marriage-thus-far, with the understanding that an A+ stands for Complete & Unalleviated Marital Bliss. I argue that this is an unreasonable goal, as we're still stuck dealing with being human as well as married, and should therefore set attainable goals lest we set ourselves up for disappointment. By my grading scale, I think we're poised between B+ and A-, due mainly to considerations of learning to live with each other, but on the whole improving as a trend. This seems entirely satisfactory.)

Maximizing outcomes is a surefire means to perpetual disappointment. Being satisfied with "good enough" is actually a better path to happiness.

I'm pretty happy as long as I'm glad I married her. Grading... meh. What's that really mean anyway?

Grading wouldn't have occurred to me either, but part of the learning to live with each other is sometimes answering the other person's bizarre and possibly silly questions in hopes of not being laughed at for asking one's own. :)
