thursday: lots of aquarium, no writing, and sewed the silly swap pillows. They are cute in that "but why in the world would someone want one of those?" sort of way.
Friday my seeds came, so I got enough extra dirt to mix into the raised bed and still fill a couple containers, and then planted all the "as soon as the soil can be worked" things, and did some starts for the tomato & peppers. Cooked chicken, collapsed. Someone did one of those silly question memes a while back where one of the questions was "What is your least favorite household chore?" My first thought was that I didn't really have one-- there are a bunch of things I don't particularly care for, but vacuuming and laundry and suchlike don't inspire any particular hate in me (well, besides my vendetta against the vacuum cleaner, but that's a different issue.) But working with raw poultry is something I particularly hate. Unfortunately, as I wish to keep eating cooked poultry, there's no particular getting around it, so I tend to cook chicken in large batches and freeze cubes of it in 1-cup containers for easy adding to whatever I'm cooking for dinner. This way, I only have to deal with raw chicken once every few weeks.
Yesterday
grauwulf got up early & went off to dress up in funny clothes & fight people, and I got up and did laundry (first load of clothes on the clothesline!) and dressed up in funny clothes to go off to mythic faire, which was quite as silly as advertised. It's sort of a ren faire, fairy fest, steampunk hybrid with a bunch of fascinating vendors, some good musicians, and very light on the programming, schedule, or generally comprehensible organization. I shopped, admired people's costumes, collected cards from artists, acquired a necklace featuring a glow-in-the-dark starling skull cast, and avoided spending $260 on an extremely exciting hat. I also spent a while minorly following around a gorgeous cellist (warning: site plays music)-- or rather, he was fairly cute, but his music is lovely, and I covet his cello. It's a one-off 5-string (E-C) that he built himself, about the size of a tenor gamba in lovely dark wood with a woman's head for the scroll. (As opposed to the hideous lion's head cellos, which are cool because they have lions, but the stylization of the lions is still hideous.) Sadly, there don't seem to be any really good pictures of it on his website. Then I went home and downloaded a couple pretty cello CDs and played with the new ruffler foot for my sewing machine, which apparently managed to get here from the west coast in bulk-rate mail in two days.
Today I mucked with doll wigs (I need to get rid of all the ones that look horrible on everyone I own) and went to a local doll meet and sat around talking to people about dolls and sewing/knitting, and
grauwulf bought a welder and tore extraneous wires off his motorcycle. Also more laundry, still no writing. I have half an idea worthy of elaborating, if only as world building, but I haven't sat down to mess with it yet.
