It's not an entry; it's a photo gallery!

The maple tree across the road, as seen from our bedroom window. Some mornings, it is full of mourning doves.

Late November; Miss Beryl had just acquired her jointed hands (as opposed to sitting next to them on top of the bookcase for half a year.)

A couple more from the squirrel on the window screen; fortunately this only happened once and the screen doesn't appear to have sustained damage.

And a much more usual picture of the squirrels failing to get into the feeder. (We've also had a few birds, though mostly they're still ignoring it.)
Last Saturday we spent at Gettysburg, which was a nice day with a party headed up by

I continue to be fascinated by the battlefield sketch phenomenon. This one's by a reporter post-Ft Sumter, not a soldier, but our guide mentioned a bugler sitting around sketching things while waiting for orders to relay, in context of how they know what trees were there at the time. The idea of someone sitting around behind battle lines sketching rather than being bored makes a certain sense when you think about it, but it still seems very... strange.

And here's one in the heat of things, with the guy on the horse apparently still running on adrenaline despite the bullet hole.

And on the "I swear, I'm not making this up" front: a piece of hard tack collected & labeled after the battle.

Playing with wigs...
...which leads to some confusion:

"Obviously we're like cousins or something. I mean, we've both got blue streaks in our hair."

"What?"
