many things in short segments

thanate*VP transportation cost analysis tells me that a)it is cheaper to drive to Boston/the ferry embarcation points than it is to fly to Boston and then take the bus, b) it costs slightly more than half as much to park in the ferry-sponsored lots for the time I'm planning to be gone than it does to take my car across to the island with me, and c)whether it is cheaper to drive & then park than it is to fly & then bus requires a greater scrutiny of the tolls & gas prices. There's also the question of whether anyone I want to hang out with is going to be around/free in Boston while I'm there. Still working on that one.
*Last week has made today's high of 95 seem almost lovely. We could have done with more rain last night (we got .3" which was at least enough to fill the rain barrel) but on the whole I can live with this. Which is good, since I'm going to have to.
*After a week of escalating ridiculous problems (in the bad sense)grauwulf is apparently going to spend the rest of the week at work in the hopes that his boss will let him got to pennsic. (That make it sound like they were all work problems, which is not the case.) I feel like I'm trying to play a spellcaster of some sort in a game like Diablo II, where I've never been terribly good at both hitting things and keeping track of my health, let alone manna and swapping out various spells and remembering my hotkeys and trying to keep my hirelings or summoned things alive. Too many factors, all at once. Neither of us has been killed by those nasty little things with butcher knives in the third level yet, at least.
*Possibly we will be signing a contract for the addition as early as tomorrow? BIG SCARY CHANGES! Theoretically for the better. Please remind me of this when they're tearing up the yard with a backhoe and I am trying to gnaw my fingers off.
*I don't suppose there's anyone semi-local (er, nearer than Front Royal?) who'd be willing to help me with a last-minute GFD pattern before pennsic? No? I didn't think so... (Though in all seriousness I'd be happy to trade fittings with someone with a more practiced eye for this stuff than the already time-stressedgrauwulf)
*I'm continuing to enjoy the farmer's market glamorous lettuce assortments, and have been collecting various other stuff to add in; there was a year (before they revamped the Dascomb dining hall and got rid of the best salad bar on campus) where I had a bowl of salad with two meals a day, and it was awesome. Sadly, I don't really have enough refrigerator space for that here, and don't want to waste salad greens if I can't use them up fast enough.
*Unfortunately, a large part of my diet also seems to be made up of the cookies I baked in my car on Saturday. (from my basic cookie recipe, not this one) I probably should have left them in about half an hour longer, but I find that slightly gooey in the middle makes a superb refrigerator cookie. My car smelled briefly like cookies, then faintly of burning sugar, and was done smelling like anything by mid-Monday.
*I wrote out a long list of things I need to get done this morning, and despite doing a whole bunch of actually useful stuff, I've so far finished one of them. Apparently there was a lot I forgot to put on the list.
