I seem to be becoming a conversational liability. The assumption, of course, is that one will have nice things to talk about, or at least enough brainspace left to listen to other people talk about things. Instead, this is what I've got from the weekend and today:

-8.5" of rain from when I pulled the lawn mower out around 1 pm on saturday and 9 am this morning, working on 9" as I type, which would have been lovely had it been spread out all over July, but all in a 48 hour stretch is less helpful

-yesterday was unusually painful in the annoying girly sort of way, which (after everything else) helped set off a chain reaction of domestic snapping at each other

-basement flooding, ongoing (though admittedly it's just annoying rather than damaging thus far)

-continuing dehumidifier death, followed by a dead sump pump false alarm, and then an actual dead sump pump (yes, we have two)

-dishwasher fail (still; I need to handwash some stuff)

-more ants

-all the permits are done for the addition but we need at least 3 days dry in a row to get the foundation in, though after that apparently they can tarp and keep working. The weather forecast is not optimistic for this week at all.

-[personal profile] grauwulf is starting to wear himself out from the 70+ hour weeks (and apparently they're still discovering vital requirements that his boss didn't manage to gather when he was supposed to do so) to the point of getting sick, which he doesn't do much of

-295 is blocked across the entire road between me and the aquarium, which did not become apparent until after I'd detoured around my usual on-ramp (which also had an accident right before where it was closed off) and gotten back on it somewhere else; apparently there was appalling flooding followed by an accident of some sort, and just after you pass the 895 exit there are cones across both sides of the road and traffic routed through one of the little authorized vehicle only U-turn cut-throughs.

-the unmown lawn is starting to bother even me (really? I must be on edge...)

-I foolishly washed my hair yesterday (ok, it really needed it) so of course it's still damp and starting to smell like sweat again.

-I deeply resent these things for making me not enjoy the rain, because I like rain. I just don't want to have to worry about it.

-phoo. (apparently this is etymologically "FU")

Ok, time to go bail out the basement again. And check sump#2 to see if I need to wetvac it again. (because I am generously allowing [personal profile] grauwulf to figure out how to get the giant block of ancient rust out of the bottom of the pit so we can replace it...) Also, there is chicken stew in the crock pot to nurture. (It must need something else added!)

ETA- the basement says "what are you worrying about? We've seen much worse than this!" and the soup is starting to smell like food, so that's nice.

Yeah. I hadn't seen this colony all year; I was hoping they'd actually died this time.
