The rain has subsided to on and off drizzling (after gifting us with almost 9" since Monday.) On Sunday, I managed to snap off the base of one of the gourds I've been trying to train up the front fence with the lawnmower, and it's been so wet that the top of the vine is planning to bloom again tonight. Nature is pretty crazy.
The contractors came and took away most of their pile of trash yesterday, and today there was a delivery of a large pile of shingles, tar paper, insulation, and siding that is now sitting in the front yard (good thing I mowed the lawn last weekend, I guess) but Warren called up last night to apologize to
grauwulf that they wouldn't be out today because they've pretty much run out of things they can do here before it dries out a bit. Apparently he was rather distressed about it, and remains confused that we're not going to get upset at him about the ridiculous weather patterns. I am ...anxious, shall we say, to have a house that *seals* again, but they've been very good about coming in and doing everything it's reasonable to do under the circumstances. And the rain is finally tailing off, so we're looking at shingles & windows & siding and everything for next week.
Meanwhile, the basement and I continue to make faces at each other, the guys next door continue to make poor renovation decisions, and the mourning doves have found their wings and departed from the nest. Here's one of them, just flown, in the tree I managed to save. (It's still all fluffy & brown patterned! Cute!):
