thanateFinished my first draft about 600 words short of 50k, so I wrote half a flash piece to add in for my NaNo validation total. It will become longer, but the next thing it needs is to be picked up and shaken out, with bits of rewriting and other bits replaced or removed, and in general not the sorts of things that work well with tracking of positive wordcounts. (The flash piece will also become longer, probably.)
Have been playing with silly plastic dolls (cheshiretiffy is an enabler, & passed on the ghostly purple-haired monster high girl, so when Target still had that Cleo I was considering last time-- this model particularly because she had the teal lipstick-- I picked her up & gave her the purple dress... and then spent half an hour last night while watching other people watch firefly on twitter making Spectra a silly thing out of scrap lace.) Doesn't everyone love parenthetical run-on asides about doll clothing? Wait, maybe that's just me.
I don't remember if I mentioned it at the time, but shortly after VP there was a conversation withgrauwulf where it was determined that while I journal rather like Tristram Shandy, my father talks like that. Long rambling anecdotal asides that actually often come back around to the point he was trying to make which you would not have been able to understand otherwise. When I try to do this in realtime, I usually get interrupted (sometimes by myself.) Of course, my father has got about thirty years more practice, so there's that.
Meanwhile, I have ordered up far too many library books, and am contemplating what would be best to offer to the Terri Windling benefit auction... probably something sitting unloved in my etsy (not the doll necklaces) but I'm wavering between the beaded pin, leaf-cover books, or some of the scrappy cuff bracelets. (Any recommendations?) Even if you haven't any, you should check out the auction; there's some pretty amazing stuff up already, and more appearing every time I go back.
