Today is leap day; I have done nothing monumental, and it is raining in great torrents.

This is not the color I expect to get out of a bottle labeled "forest green." I am considering trying to overdye it in darker blue, but at least thus far it's more the color of actual chartreuse than "attacked with a highlighter," so I may let it stand for a week or so. (And yes, that is [personal profile] grauwulf kindly providing a white background...)

I don't think whoever's in charge next door quite thought this through.

But when I look straight out the bedroom window instead of down, there's this. Which makes it better, for as long as we've got oaks. (And it occurs to me that the clear-cutting of the lot next door may actually help the big oak out some. Here's hoping.)

Maybe not forest green, but definitely a beautiful tree green at the tips. I like it.

That's an awesome tree out your window.

Thanks! I keep being reminded of the "grass-green silk" that turns up in ballads.

(It's mostly just that bright green is not my color-- and it usually looks bad when it starts to fade.)

Oaks are lovely.

I kinda like the green, personally. It's both earthy and whimsical.

It reminds me of the "grass-green silk" that turns up in ballads. Very spring-like, just not at all what I had in mind.

It rather matches your oak tree! Well, the pretty pretty moss bits, at least.

I have horrible luck with greens, particularly when I don't bleach the yellow-blonde tone out of my hair first. Not only does it fade very quickly, I have to go a few shades bluer than intended by the bottle.

I don't feel like dark green is a well-supported hair dye color, and I'm never sure if this is because it's a small market or because it's actually a really hard color to create. (though blue seems a lot easier, so you'd think...) I bought this one b/c it claimed to be darker (and it might have turned out a little more foresty if I'd had a better ability to heat-set it) and was under $5, but I think I may have to try ordering manic panic or something online if overdying doesn't work. Well, or not have green hair, of course.

I've observed the terrible yellow-fading problems on other people, which is probably why it took me so long to try anything with dye myself.
