total lack of me being useful...

1. Elaborate on your default icon.
it's a detail of a picture
skittblink took of me lying on the fencing room floor when I went back to visit Oberlin in the spring of '01... of course, it's not the one I'm using for this post or anything; that would be way too sensible. :)
2. What's your current relationship status?
Um, I have many relationships. But not of the sort they mean by this question.
3. Ever have a near-death experience?
No; the closest was probably steering my car into the cliff rather than the river out in Colorado, but aside from the certain shock of it, I don't think it counts as near death when I actually stayed on the road.
4. Name an obvious quality you have.
my hair-- does that count? I think people usually comment on either intelligence or... uniqueness first, so they must be pretty obvious.
5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
(nothing this morning)
6. Any celeb you would marry?
Not much of one for admiring people more than aesthetically from a distance (my interest is too much personality-based) and so while theoretically there might be some celeb out there I'd like to marry, I doubt I'll ever know it.
7. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
Someone once said I looked like "the red haired girl from Saved by the Bell"... of course, being me, I have no idea who that is. More often people think I look like someone they know (or used to know.)
8. Do you wear a watch?
usually, yes.
9. Do you have anything pierced?
10. Do you have any tattoos?
No ink, no extra holes. I actually have a personal rule that (aside from cutting my fingernails & stuff) I don't make changes to my apperance that I can't wake up the next day and change my mind about... and there was a while in high school where my father said if I wanted to dye my hair purple I was in trouble, because he'd let me, but if I got my ears pierced he'd throw me out of the house. (I don't know if this was true or not, but since I wasn't that interested, it didn't really matter-- there are times it would be convenient to wear earrings, but I don't like the way the holes look without them in, and I don't need more stuff to get my hair caught in)
11. Do you like pain?
not particularly, but I can deal with it-- especially in the fencing context where everyone keeps apologizing for hitting me too hard and most of the time it just confuses me.
12. Do you like to shop?
If I have a goal, or there are lots of interesting things to look at & I have the energy to be inerested, yes. (I find there's a certain point of touristing where it gets to be much more fun to shop than visit more museums or whatever, because you can pick stuff up and play with it)
13. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
dinner friday night (pennsic food court)
14. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card?
gasoline before leaving pennsic
15. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?
er, Troy, I think. Of course, this is me and I never call people...
16. What is on your desktop background?
runied city! (a picture shamelessly stolen from the smithsonian exhibit a while back of nat'l geographic's best unpublished photos...)
17. What is the background on your cell phone?
my cell phone is cheap and doesn't have a background
18. Do you like redheads?
er, when they're worth liking, just like everyone else. I can think of several who are quite worthy.
19. Do you know any twins?
Three pairs, and at least three half-pairs that I know of.
20. Do you have any weird relatives?
Depends what counts as weird... my remaining grandmother is scary & christian republican (and occasionally will corner me and say things like I'd find more nice christian boys if I went to church), one of my aunts was almost a nun, but got sent back into the world & married a minor criminal instead, and my aunt on the other side of the family breeds dogs. Though admittedly for vs. the rest of the world weirdness, my brother & I win hands down.
21. What was the last movie you watched?
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Which I borrowed from
troyfish and watched *all by myself* in the middle of doing pre-pennsic handsewing bits. Aren't you proud of me?
22. What was the last book you read?
The Savage Damsel & the Dwarf by Gerald Morris (YA arthurian retellings... fast paced & cute, good light reading for pennsic)... and now Claire is making me read A Sundial in a Grave: 1610 by Mary Gentle on the grounds that it has fencing in it.
