I drove to work this morning past the place where there was a dead opossum by the side of the road for a week when I was in fifth grade, and I had to be careful to avoid stepping on it while getting out (as a safety patrol) to let the kid whose bus stop it was cross the street. This happens every time I want to get on the beltway going north.

It is *so* time for me to leave NoVa. And I've got two more years here on the current plan...

So what is the current plan?

this year: apply to library schools, work, try to save money (well, more money than I probably can manage to save, and the hinge just broke on my laptop, which I'd like to get fixed before it snaps one of the cables to the monitor, but it's going to be $300 if I'm lucky and the person I talk to at the apple store is nice, otherwise enough more I get to start wondering if it'd be worth it to buy a new one... mmm, dual core powerbook... ok, not part of the plan, really)
next year: go to library school, graduate, find real job using shiny new MLS. Somewhere not here, maybe where it snows or something.

Although there are still random flashes of "what the hell am I thinking" so who knows...

You are sharing my pain of the broken hinge! Er, sorry 'bout that. I just never heard of it happening before mine went, and now it's two in as many weeks...

Yes, and Leo sent me a nice picture of one... so it's possible he's got one too. Same side as on mine, even. And I mean, so long as I don't go anywhere, it's not a problem just to leave my computer open. But someday, I will want to move it again.

Same thing happened to me, and I got a quote in the $150 dollar range. I was able to buy the new parts online for under $30, and I'm going to take it apart and fix it myself. I'll let you know how it goes, but I just wanted to tell you you can probably find the parts yourself a *lot* cheaper...
