negative reenforcement
Jan. 24th, 2011 09:35 pmI made it all the way down to teaism in DC for a doll meet on Saturday, which is the first time in months that I've actively gone out for the express purpose of being social with a group of non-family, and managed to come home with a cold. These two events may not be related (in fact, the person I interviewed with at the aquarium last week was out sick today, so that may be where I got it-- and if so I trust I didn't pass anything on to any doll people) but the connection between be social=get sick is not a helpful one for my future mental health.
However, despite feeling cold-like and icky most of the day (except for 15-20 minute periods of lucidity after eating) I did manage to do everything I set out to do except for starting a batch of marmalade, which I think can wait a day or two. I've thought of another use for the white light maggots in yoga-- I practiced visualizing an army of white blood cells with spears running about and attacking the invading army of cold germs.
grauwulf, who has been bouncing off the walls recently, told me that we were well suited, which I think was a particularly unfair response coming from someone who was at the time looking at me as if my head were actually sprouting a spear-wielding immune system.
I've also obtained more free-for-using-Discover Borders cards, and spent them already ordering expensive books, including Cooking for Geeks, which I'm currently working through cover to cover out of the library. I highly recommend it to anyone with intellectual curiosity about how food works. It is entirely possible that I will be spending the next day or two curled up on the couch under an afghan reading it, but for the moment I will be going to sleep.
Experimentally cross-posty from dreamwidth. Comments encouraged in either location.
