The literary theme for the week appears to be escaped galley slaves. Just finished with The Game of Kings (Francis Crawford of Lymond, a scottsman sold to the french by the english for obscure reasons) and am rereading The Curse of Chalion (Lupe de Cazaril, who failed to be ransomed after an unsuccessful siege for... equally unfortunate political reasons)... I feel that I may have to hunt up a copy of Ben Hurr next, to round out the set. Can anyone think of any others?
Oh, and my mother is mourning for my formerly-white fencing shirts, stained by my patchwork doublet. As odd as this is to say, I'll almost be glad to do my own laundry again someday, and know that no one is worrying about the fact that my field clothes are irrevocably mud-stained, and the white shirts that I made, specifically knowing that they wouldn't stay white, have in fact not done so.
