thanateWe have siding on the back (Thursday) which is awesome, and a bunch of siding on the downhill side (Friday) which would be more awesome if they hadn't brought in someone else who doesn't understand care with hazardous substances and thus they weren't grinding shattered bits of asbestos tile into the lawn and sidewalk. ![[personal profile]](https://s.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
grauwulf has expressed displeasure in a far milder form than I would like to, but he's handling it so I don't scream at people. Neither I nor the EPA is impressed, particularly with the "oh, boys will be boys" attitude I've gotten about previous concerns (removing the tomato cages I put up so they won't step on plants, etc.)
The plumbers have put in uninsulated PVC piping with enough bends and turns for a Rube Goldberg machine, particularly with the vent pipe off the new toilet, which turns several loops, comes up through the far side of bedroom closet, dives back through the entire run of wall there (3" pipe boring through 2x4s works so well) and does another little dance through the attic to vent out in a place they could have gotten to with about 4 turns if they'd been trying. Oh, and they spewed water over the basement and cleaned it up with our wet-vac, which then trailed a great swath of mud across the basement when they put it back, & didn't bother mention any of this to us. This was not the sort of impressed we wished to be.
But the siding is nice:

ETA: Turns out Warren is also not particularly happy with his guys breaking shingles, since he gets jobs to replace broken ones on other houses, and they're pretty much impossible to get hold of. So, he's promised to deal with the mess & possibly the financial explanation will make a better impression on the crew than some hysterical homeowner going on about 30 year cancer risks.
