thanate*Except perhaps I lie, because I was also going to mention the dream I had, wherein they decided to pour the basement, water and all, only then we discovered that apparently the house was warmer than the outside, and a whole bunch of snakes had decided to move in, so we had to remove them. Now, I like snakes, but even asleep I don't think it's actually a good idea to go around picking up possibly venomous wild animals that are a bit too long and heavy for one person to manage easily.
*I opened up my short story tracker the other day and discovered that I'd ignored it so long that it was broken and I didn't have anything out for submission at all. Oops. All fixed now (and two more stories have been added, although thus far it is statistically provable that I can only sell stories with selkies in them, so I guess I'll have to write some more of those, too.) I'm up to 18 submission for publication entries for this year, plus two for the VP workshop, with one actual acceptance (date of publication still TBD), which is up from last year's 18 total for the year & no publications.
*I may have mentioned that I brought back the Reconstructing History De Gheyn pattern from pennsic; after staring at the historical notes and the various colored plates available from a google image search, I went and got the book, too, and it is beautifully worth it. (Also it is about $1.49 cheaper than it was last week, but whatever.) I would "like" De Gheyn on facebook, were I on facebook and he not several centuries dead. (except... he has an FB entry anyway, which I fail to understand.) Kass does not mention that all the buttons shown are clearly fabric ball buttons (many with little pearl/bead bobbles on them!) and I'm not sure where she got the button fly thing, since you can't see a single fly in all the plates; the pants are far too poofy for that. What you can see is a few crazy bound welt-style buttoned pockets, which are pretty exciting. Of course, now I just have to make this, between dealing with the basement ceiling & packing up for VP at the end of (eek!) next week, in the hopes that I'll be able to wear it for Hallowe'en. Meanwhile, I am restraining myself from breaking out the colored pencils on my book.
*Speaking of which, eep! VP is in less than two weeks! How did that happen? I've got more reading to do...
