45k; these things make me happy

I meant to write this list a while ago, and sartorias's thanksgiving post just reminded me. This is not the everyday happiness-- and by that I don't mean to belittle things like being married to the right person-- but the silly unexpected things that surprise me into smiling.


*wind turbines, glimpsed from the highway
*highway bridges
*takeoff and landing in an airplane
*silly little presents in the mail (getting, and giving)
*Corelli's Christmas Concerto turning up on the radio somewhere
*interesting sculptures in public places
*squirrels racing across the yard, or herons standing still in a marsh
*plays on words and linguistically silly conversations
*sunlight falling through leaf cover
*asters blooming their little heads off, or pokeweed-induced drunken birds
*strangers who wear exciting clothes or have exciting hair (or both)
*bits of fiction I wrote over a decade ago that still make me giggle
*other things, as appropriate
