thanateSo far, we have a continuing almost-painted bedroom (I want the grauwulf to help out with the very last touch-ups by holding a ladder, which we still haven't coordinated yet, and there's still the closet door and frame to do) but we camped out in it for the first night of the year and determined that it's rather noisier on the tree-side of the house than the street-side, and air mattresses are colder than real beds. Not exactly news, but we've gone back to the old bedroom until the carpet gets here.
All the library books in the world (ok, 8 of them) were waiting for me when I went by the library this afternoon, and I still have two more books I bought last week to read (because of course I devoured Martha Wells' The Serpent Sea already, and maybe I should do an actual post talking about that, as it was awesome.) Of course, I also have two other library books out that I haven't finished yet, a novel to edit, and two to beta read (ok, one and a half, so far.) Something tells me there are some renewals in my future.
Instead of scrubbing the drifts of construction dust out of the corners in anticipation of our houseguest arriving tomorrow, I have baked brownies, and plan to bake some exciting cookies to force myself to open one of the jars of marmalade I made last winter and find out how scary/bitter they actually are. (Does anyone like bitter marmalade? If so, I may have a present for you...)
Has anyone got any solid colored coat-weight wool scraps they wouldn't mind sharing? Anything but black (with which I am well supplied) though natural or natural-dye-obtainable colors would be preferred. 3" squares or suchlike are plenty, though if you have quantities suitable for adding to a rag rug I wouldn't turn those down. Mainly, though, my awesome frock coat has begun to tear at the points, and then I cleverly fixed one bit but not the back seam before washing it, and a bunch more pulled out. Phoey. So, I might as well make it a patch coat, if it's going to be like that.
