useful, not-so-useful...

thanateI dragged the offending bookshelf from the porch out to the curb this morning, taped up with free signs warning of its smoky nature, and had not finished writing my first ever post to Craigslist when some guy from down the street came to carry it off. Now I have several slightly inconvenient bruises (that thing is *sturdy*) and one less piece of problem furniture to deal with. It only took me... well, a month or several years, depending on what you're counting. Unfortunately, that and drafting a possible labyrinth pattern for a baby quilt (I'm still fussing with it a little, but I have something more-or-less workable to start with) are about my only constructive achievements for today.
Less constructive achievements include driving off a Very Determined young man who was attempting to schedule roof, siding, and window replacement quotes, and several iterations of "We've just had all those redone," sliding into "No thank you, go away," entirely failed to convince him that "No, don't give me your flier" was in fact an option I got to choose. After the second time he tried to get me to take the thing "just in case" I shut the door in his face so he couldn't ask again. Um, really people-- when training door to door salespeople, please mention that actually it is the customer's right to refuse. The time to stop pushing is when they say, "no, thank you" and before they start feeling the need to swear at you. At least the church groups get that part. :/
