"Why, Natalie! You must be psychopathic!"
Oct. 2nd, 2006 07:04 pm[as said her mother, who meant "psychic."]
Steve: I've got a branch for you. [meaning he was holding it out of the way]
me: Where is it? You said you had a branch for me, and now you're not giving it to me! That's not nice, Steve.
Steve: here [giving me a grass seed-head, randomly plucked]
me: That's grass, Steve.
Steve: It's a stalk. I decided to branch out and stalk you.
Steve: I have some ex-girlfriends who think I'm a dog.
me: So they gave you worm pills??
I have decided not to become a Luddite. It would take too long to make tea. Although admittedly I can't use the better microwave when the lights are on in the basement without flipping the breaker, which is not designed to make me appreciate technology more...

Date: 2006-10-03 12:11 am (UTC)But yes, I've dealt with totally pathetic hotel microwaves before that take about four minutes to heat tea (in a slightly smaller mug) and furthermore have the stupid little dial thing as the only way to set the timer, so you can't actually tell how long it's set for... and then dim the lights when they're on so you're sort of afraid to plug your computer in while the microwave is running. :)

Date: 2006-10-03 12:39 am (UTC)Ah, but if you went total Luddite, then you could be heating your house with a wood stove in the winter, and then heating water for tea would take no time at all, because you'd already have a pot of water on the stove :)
