thanateMany years ago, a career-angsty friend was between jobs and decided that having goals helped her emotional stability. So far, so good, but because of who and where and when she was, the goal she chose was to collect a million roses in the Katamari Damacy video game. I've been thinking about this recently, as I try to put my brain back together again (again...) and the silly dragon game I've been playing just rolled out a random "chat" feature which makes it clear that I have twice as many points as the next highest scoring player I've yet encountered. I also just managed to space out on a writing deadline I intended to meet, and my attempts to counteract entropy in our living spaces continue to be slow to the point of sisyphean.
I have read a great deal and even done a little writing, and Monday night girl scout meetings are suddenly writing time. (I deliberately haven't signed up for that set of background check so I'm not allowed to sit in on the meetings; thus I can sit upstairs with my laptop, instead.) I have actually done a lot of little household things; it's just the magnitude of what's still to do that is still rather crushing. And I'm walking my child to school & back anytime the temperature is below 90, which entails a more-than-half-mile walk 4x daily, and hatching all the pokemon eggs. Does anyone here still play that one? I need a third friend for the "make 3 friends" goals. Will send gifts! :) (the magic # is: 2820 0191 3817)
