So I'm almost 40% of the way done with the target word count, and only 32% done with the chapter projection. (that is assuming, of course, that I end up with 25 chapters. It might be only 24...) So I will probably not be finished at 50K, although my next chapter may also be horrendously short, since so far my plan for it is "Argent travels through the Underworld According to Virgil" which utterly fails to inspire me in terms of plot or exciting events. There may be a lot of introspection and some scenery. Maybe he'll run into Herakles...

But I finished chapter 8, in which Sinbad starts working for a witch, with whom he doesn't get along, tricks a boggart and thus wins a fortune with which to pay his brother's way through college (upcoming in chapter 14), starts getting along better with his employer, goes fishing, finds true love, and rescues a prince (whose throne, incidentally, his older sister has completely unintentionally usurped)

So I guess maybe I can manage a nice slow uneventful chapter.
