I would expect a mysterious old man/woman who would ask me to do favors, which would result in good karma if done and bad karma if not.

I might also expect really awesome trees, possibly some either talking or with dryads.

I'd expect to see fairies dancing, dryads and naiads. And I agree with the mysterious wish-grantor.

I'd also be wary of drinking from certain water sources since they'd enchant me and I'd wake up 100 years later.

er, well, since his sphere of influence is relatively small (one rock) but power over that domain is absolute, one would have to enter his domain in some way before there was any real danger. Anyone that picked up the rock had probably better have a jelly donut on hand though...

Trees. Lots of them. It's a forest, after all. Depending on the forest, perhaps some bodies of water such as a lake, stream, etc., which lends itself to other things. Caves maybe?

Well, I juts watched Brothers' Grimm, so I'm kinda biased.

• Lots of trees, talking trees... not in the look my leaves make a mouth sort of way, or a Moses set a bush on fire and carve a rock sort of way, but in a wind that I can translate sort of way.
  
• Rocks with legs that would build walls as necessary, and open doors as needed.
  
• Glowing eyes in all the dark spots
  
• A racing Snail... We always need a racing snail
  
• Faeries - And not the Dupont Circle kind, Nor the pissed off Tink, or Oona (Legend)... I want nice faeries... okay.. .maybe they are little bitches. Never mind
  
• Gelflings, I likes gelflings.
  
• A talking caterpillarwith a british accent (Labyrinth)

Ok, add Brothers' Grimm to the list of movies I'd like to borrow. :)

There are lots of sorts of faeries, and being me, I'm likely to go with the older folk tradition sort (a la Tam Lin and/or Thomas the Rhymer) who are generally beautiful, powerful, and highly dangerous. Work by very different rules that humans don't understand, that sort of thing. But what is a Dupont Circle kind of faerie?
