Y'all are registered to vote, right? (excepting any non-citizens, of course) VA deadline to register is October 6...

And also, if you're a particularly civic-minded sort, I would mention that they'll be able to use as many election officers as they can possibly scare up for this one, so do consider it if you're able. It's a heck of a long day, and it's going to be a madhouse the whole time, but they do offer compensation, if you're in a position to be worried about missing a day of work financially. Fairfax County info here. And any competent extra hands are sure to be appreciated.

Yeah; I mention it mainly because I'm going away not to be back before the registration deadline, and my mother started asking me if I wanted to be an election officer, and then telling me how ghastly it's going to be at the polls. She's sort of hoping that they didn't get back from Alaska soon enough, and she's been replaced as chief for this election.

*grumble* Our flight to Florence was supposed to leave at 10:40am on Election Day. Plenty of time to hit the polls way early before boarding the plane(s).... Nope, now we have an extra leg of plane travel put in (Dayton to Chicago got replace with Dayton to St Louis to Chicago), and we are supposed to leave at 6:20am.

So vote absentee; you'll get to miss all the lines and everything. A much better experience, anyway, given the madhouse it's supposed to be looking like. :)

No fun with the multiple transfers, though. That's quite irritating.
