I have walked in Roman ruins. I have looked out the window of the ladies' toilets over the spring of Minerva Sulis, and taken the waters in the Pump Room ("It tastes like pennsic water," said [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf). I have walked in ancient stone circles, ruined cathedrals, and the footsteps of all the pilgrims to Canterbury, marveled at ancient earthworks, spent more money on trains than I care to contemplate, seen more sheep than I can count, and looked upon the colossal stonework of the palace of Ninnevah, and the Elgin Marbles. (er... I can't quite account for the fact that I somehow failed to be aware that the Elgin Marbles were actually all the good bits left from the Parthenon...)

The ruins of the Roman Forum as way cool.

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself :-)

They are, and we also did a bunch of bits of the Wall up north, which were equally cool if a bit less intact. (ok, much less...)

It was a good trip, and didn't even result in the boy and I wishing to murder each other or anything. :)
