The first seven (7) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year (2009).
- No requests-- it could be anything. It may be a mix CD. It may be a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows?
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch is that if you don't re-post this offer, the bargain is void!

Also, I did not quite get there in time to yell at the workers who are now jackhammering up the front walk; presumably they believe that since they poured the street sidewalk so unevenly with the personal walkways that were already there, they have to re-pour stuff on our properties. Of course, in our case it was a 3 inch step, and the walk was in perfectly good shape, and now I get to listen to the jackhammer right outside my door. And I have this feeling that the incompetent newspaper delivery people are going to manage to get a paper stuck in the concrete... The downhill neighbor, who has a foot and a half step, is far more in need of the help. Besides that [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf says he managed to sink knee-deep into the freshly poured sidewalk on his way out the door one morning, too. I remain not impressed with this street renovation.

Is it a time problem as well as money? If writing a poem is ok, then surely digital photos or other intangibles are fair game... or you could keep an eye out for the next eleven months and send people picture post cards or real letters with little things in them. If you've already got envelopes, you can send an awful lot of small flat things for under an ounce postage.

Send me a note with your address, anyway... things do have a tendency to leave my house and appear on other people's doorsteps from time to time. ;)

It's both time and money. I need to spend all my time trying to do things to make money for myself (which sounds horrible, but I do). Any free time, I spend doing pottery to sell to pay my bills. Any other free time, I spend writing to get published, to get hopefully paid... to pay my bills.

I hate owing people things. It's like this looming dread over my head too. I have to get rid of it quick. This just wouldn't be fun for me, you know what I mean? I'd end up running around like a crazy person, feeling guilty. That's why I passed over it all this time. I just misread like a bonehead. I was like, wow... that's very cool!

It's ok... you don't have to do anything for me. I was a knucklehead.

Fair enough, I guess-- stop feeling bad, though. (I scold you for apologizing for things I wasn't offended by anyway) I make things, and I give things to people; it's just one of the things I do. I say to repost the meme because I think other people should do this, too, because presents are awesome, not because I mean to be dictatorial about it. And you can see all the other people on my friends list lining up to do this meme, anyway...

Like I said, you should send me your address anyway. I make no promises, but that way if I'm ever inspired, you get a real surprise rather than me asking where to send a mystery present.
