Whatever we end up doing, there are going to be some large oak limbs coming down. We have access to a sawmill-style chainsaw attachment (my father's) and a chain saw if you need that as well, but no time to deal with all this crap.

Does anybody want to come out and rescue any wood for exciting future projects, or shall I send it off to whatever the tree-care company does with that which they haul away? You'll need space & time to season it, but it should be possible get some very nice pieces, especially for smaller projects.

There's also a planer that'll take up to at least 2" boards (maybe 3? I'm not sure) in my father's basement, which I suspect would be up for borrowing in a year or two if you needed that as well.

Depending on the size of the limbs, there are quite a few things I can do with them (small boxes, parts of or complete musical instruments, etc).

I think we may be in mid-sized furniture territory, especially if you're thinking about the kinds of lumber that were most common in the days before chainsaws & bucket trucks... I'll ask them to leave the big bits, then, and we'll go from there.

One other question - do you know if this is a red oak or a white oak?
